CmController

Usage

The CmController is an easy to use measurement system designed to take advantages of Statistical Process Control methods considering the special needs of surface mount technology. He allows a quick but comprehensive evaluation of the accuracy and repeatability of all SMD production equipments like solder paste printers, placement systems, dispenser etc. (find under application a list of machines we measured). The purpose is to understand the systematical and random behavior of the production process to be able to do corrections when necessary. The idea is to guaranty a stable high production quality of the live time of production. 


Principle

The CmController measures x, y and theta position accuracies of SMT equipment like solder paste printers, placement systems or dispenser. The machine applies SMD components or deposits on measurement boards using a special layout. After that positions will be measured and compared with the nominal values. 

The system combines high measurement accuracy with high robustness against surrounding conditions by using relative measurements. That means the reference coordinate system and the measurement objects are in the same field of view. 
Compared with other measurement systems it allows a very compact and light wight design. The CmController can be very easy moved to the position of the production floor where he is needed. That saves the invest in a dedicated measurement room and keep the transport time of the produced measurement board between production machine and CmController short. 

The analysis software is designed to give a quick overview over the accuracy behavior of the process. Numerous numerical and graphical tools supporting further analysis to detect weak points and root causes of failures. The software considers the individual setup of each machine like number of placement head, different cameras etc. 
What makes it possible to trace the results back to a single nozzle for instance. The goal is to detect failures before they are becoming visible in the production yield.
